  2. Born on 13th June 1954,
  3. Hailed from Ogwashi-Ukwu
  4. She is an Igbo and the daughter of Professor Chukwuka Ogonjo, who was the King known as Eze hailing from the Umuobi Royal Family.
  5. Ngozi attended International School, Ibadan and then proceeded to Harvard University, where she completed her studies with high grades in 1977.
  6. In 1981, she completed her doctorate in regional economic development at Massachusetts University of Technology.

  9. In 2003, she was appointed the Finance Minister in the Nigerian cabinet by President Obasanjo.
  10. Under her leadership as finance minister, the country closed a deal with the Paris Club and convinced it to pay close to $12 million to the country, a part of the money that it owed to Nigeria, in the year 2005

  21. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala was the Minister of Finance under President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration .
  22. In the year 2007, she was appointed as a Managing Director of World Bank Group. As the Managing Director, she led several World Bank initiatives to assist low-income countries during food and financial crises.
  23. Later in 2011, during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, she was reappointed as Finance Minister with expanded portfolio of the coordinating Minister of the Economy.
